Welcome Mark, we are pleased to have you with us. We currently have 5 new members to be officially installed into Lions International. This will be done at our Christmas party on Dec. 21st. District officers will be present to recognize these new members and their sponsors.
A contribution to the Grand Old Army Home at King will be made at the Christmas Party in lieu of a tail twister fine that day. That money, plus profit from the egg nog party preceding the party (after bills are paid) will go to King with the clothing drive being contacted during the month of December.
We anticipate about 100 to attend the Christmas party - the cost of lunch being $11.00. Three of our local charities will receive checks from the club that day; the eight others to also receive $500 checks will get theirs in the upcoming months.
It is estimated that about 700 candy bars were sold at out December sale, which means about $350 profit for our club. Future sales will be upcoming. Meanwhile we are seeking sites to place boxes of candy to be sold to staff, customers, etc; Banks, credit unions, etc; would be good sites.
A support group for the visually impaired is being formed locally. We may be asked to contribute to this effort. More details will be forthcoming.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Tom O'Hearn, Sec.

Lion Randa reported that, after all Sr.EXPO bills have been paid, including dictionaries for 3rd grade students in Appleton, our profit for this venture is $11,902.60, - $675 above our projected figure. Our congratulations to all who were involved. Well done!
Of these funds $5,500 will be given to local charities - each receiving $500. Rather than presenting all of the checks at our Christmas party on Dec. 21st, they will be presented as follows: 3 in December at that event (Emergency Shelter ofOutagamie County, Fox Valley Warming Shelter and The Salvation Army).
The other 8 agencies will receive their checks at upcoming meetings in Jan., Feb., March and April (2 per month). Noteworthy wa the Necrology program paying tribute to those Lions who passed away in the last year. There were 33 from our District, 4 of whom were former members of this Club - Lions Loren Ebert, John Jooss, Herb Krueger and Lee Loean. A codv of the printed program has been forwarded to the surviving family members.

The special Budget Committee has yet to meet and will do so and report in to the Board at the September Board meeting.
The cost of exhibiting at our Senior EXPO has increased over 2008. That plus the problems with the economy have resulted in some presenters still
on hold this year. Nonetheless, our goal of $25,000 profit less than $25,000 Gross Income is still in place. Distribution of those funds will, of course reflect that figure.
Paul Shoberg still wants our trailer moved, but is not pushing us to do so. If there is any interest, let us know. We will check it out as to condition, etc; to determine what we really own at this point.
Our club membership is now down to 56 with the loss of 2 members - Fred Biesecker is transferring to Quincy, II and Maudie Gasman is non-renewing due to lack of time to attend meetings. We still have 6 members who have not paid their dues, as well - and are following up on their intentions.

Appleton Noon Lions Club of Appleton WI. held its regular Board Meeting at the Grand Meridian on July 13, 2009. Meeting was called to order at 10:35 A.M. by Pres. Mike Weyenberg who acted as chairman with the following members in attendance:

A motion was made by Garnier, seconded by Acker to approve the treas. report as presented- Motion carried Fund balances are as follows: Admin Act. $1153, Charity Act. 8142, Contingency Act. $0, Restricted Sight Act. $2296, Becker Act. $17,884. Total $29,475.
A lengthy discussion was held on some items in the proposed budget for 2009-2010. The entire proposed budget was reviewed by the board and the differences from the 2009 budget was explained by the committee that formed the budget. A discussion was held on the Lions Pride entry in the budget. Our 3yr. Pledge was finished with the 2009 budget and funding was not included in the 2010 budget. It was suggested that an ad hoc committee be appointed to look at the Wisconsin Lions Foundation portion of the budget and the Lions Pride portion of the budget to determine if some funding should be allocated to each item. A motion was made by Schuh and seconded by Randa to form this committee for the purpose stated above. Vounteers for that committee are Weyenberg, Garnier, Wieser.
Lion Cox noted the Nicaragua Project funds a foreign country project while our Lions Club philosophy is to fund projects of a local nature. The question arose, "Should our club be funding this project in a foreign country ?" This seems to be contrary to our past actions. It was suggested that the Charity Screening Committee be responsible for determining this in the future. A motion was made by Garnier, seconded by Randa, to transfer the $300 in the budget for the Nicaragua Project to the Charity Screening Committee budget. Motion carried.
A discussion was also held on the Mission to Mexico budget item and this item will be left in the budget.
Proposed budget approval will be tabled until the committee has time to meet on the items mentioned above.
Senior Expo Chairman, Bob Randa reported that the expo reservations are at about the same rate as last year at this time. Bob said he had 41 confirmations at this early date. A suggestion was made to have the Noon Lions sponsor a booth at our expo. After a brief discussion, a motion was made by Tom Piskor, seconded by Randa, to have a booth at this year's expo. Motion carried.
Lion Novitske reminded the club that we will have a brat fry at festival foods, scheduled for the latter part of August.
President Weyenberg reminded everyone that he has a 38 passenger bus set for the meeting to be held at the camp next Monday. Tom O'Hearn reminded everyone the Governor of District 27B-1, Governor Len Quinn, will be here on Monday, July 27th to install our new officers for 2010.

Repectfully submitted,

The incoming District Governor has been invited to be with us in July - no response as of this date. We want him to install new officers and induct new members into the Club.
Louise Ebert will continue to run off and distribute our SNORTS. We thank here for that.
The Lions Foundation has informed us that the Kimberly Clark Foundation has agreed to match the $250 donated to the Foundation in the name of Lion John Jooss. The family will be so notified.
Transportation to and from Lions Camp is difficult for some campers. It was recommended that those of us who are willing to do so make it known to Lion Weyenberg who will coordinate this effort.
The Senior EXPO Committee wishes to make grants available to recipients spread over a whole year rather than all at our Christmas party. Thus, the accompanying publicity can be spread out rather than all take place at one event. This motion was made by Madisen, seconded by Schuh - carried.
A few reminders - Dues are due July 1st. The cost of which will again be $80 for 2009-10. - No meeting on June 29 as the Grand Meridian has a previous engagement to fulfill which will use the entire building. We will meet on Mon. July 6th.
A THANK YOU was given to Pres. Novitske, as this was his last Board Meeting as Chairman. Thanks for a good job, well done, in a difficult year to be president.

The club relocation committee indicates that there is sufficient concern among the club membership, to warrant looking at another facility to house our meetings. They are currently doing so, and will be report to us as they proceed. Our thanks to Sid Kroeger for volunteering to be on this important committee as well.
A discussion took place concerning 2 of our financial accounts, both of which, were formed through donations by former Lions and/or their families:
The Hertzfeldt Account now has about $2,500 left in an account which once held $18,000. It is a restricted sight account, which specifies the
funds be used to benefit the visually handicapped in the Appleton area. The fund is currently used to provided glasses for the needy, as well as money
used for transporting corneas. The funds used by Lion Ron Dunlap come from this account. (See information on back).
The Becker Account has no such restrictions, funds can be used at the Club discretion. The original amount of $40,000 is now down to $28,000.
A committee monitors this account. VP Weyenberg reappointed Lions Ferris (Chm.), O'Heam, Priebusch and Tassoul, Piper and Muck to the committee and
placed himself on the committee to replace former member, Tom Torkelson. The committee by-laws indicate there be one member dropped and one added
each year. (See information attached).
It was suggested that the Club's budget and finance committee discuss whether the funds should be combined,
or added to, in order that they not become depleted. This could be a part of 2009-2010 budget deliberation. Lions Priebusch (Chm.), Cox, Madisen,
Piper, Novitske and Weyenberg comprise this committee.
Lions Randa and Simon reported that Woodward Communications (WHBY) is interested exploring the possibility of buying our Senior EXPO. We would still be co-sponsers and very much involved but they would take over the major effort required in sponsoring the event - getting vendors, etc; This is only in the discussion stages at this point with much more to be determined (financial repercussions, etc;) before anything happens. Were this to be proposed, the total club membership would have to approve^n" undertaking of this magnitude. We will hear much more on this in the weeks and months ahead,
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Tom O'Hearn, Secretary

Appleton Noon Lions Club of Appleton WI. held its regular Board Meeting at the VFW Hall on January 19, 2009. Meeting was called to order at 10:30 A.M. by V.P Bob Randa who acted as chairman with the following members in attendance:
A motion was made by Garnier, seconded by Acker, to approve the Sec. report as printed - carried. A motion was made by Schuh, seconded by Cox, to approve the Treas. Report as presented - carried. Fund balances are as follows: Admin. Act. $$2,661, Charity Act. $$6,557, Restricted Sight Act. $$2,786, Contingency Act. $ $1,230, Becker Act. $$16,274. Total: $29,508.
The Club membership is now at 56, with the loss of Lion John Jooss. We have a few interested possible members. That is good news for our club.
The Christmas party was considered a very successful event. 90 people attended. The recipients of our $8,800 were
very pleased and have responded in thanks. A total of $122 was collected in cash, in addition to our other items
for King - again, the recipients were well pleased with our effort. It is felt that we should be getting publicity
for our event from the Post Crescent and the Lions Magazine. It certainly was a newsworthy event. The publicity
committee will follow up.
Congratulations also to Lions Randa, Garnier and Dunlap for their awards -well deserved.
Lions Novitske, O'Hearn, Schuh and Priebusch attended a recent Zone Meeting, where it was noted that money given to Lions International for Melvin Tones Awards does, in fact, come back to the Wis. Foundation for use. These funds have helped fund projects at and around Lions Camp.
Our recent candy bar sales have netted an anticipated $700 profit to the Club. Another similar event may be in the offing in March. Our thanks to Lion Gasman for chairing this event. It was suggested that the publicity accompany this project indicate the funds generated by these sales will go to fund our next 3rd grade dictionary project in fall of 2009. The suggestion was well received by the Board.
Chez Hoeft has resigned from the Membership Committee, due to health concerns. Lion Dave Cooper has agreed to fill this vacancy. Thanks Dave. Chez was also a member of the Nominating Committee. If you are interested in helping out, see Lion Garnier Chairman of this committee.
Don Goodman is unable to carry on the task of dispatcher for our eye transportation project with the Wis. Eye Bank, due to his health problems. Lion Carolyn Cox has agreed to fill this role. Thanks.
Discussion took place relative to our relocation to the VFW. A survey will be given members and the discussion will continue again at the Feb. meeting, prior to signing of any contract with the VFW. This was the results of a motion by Schuh, seconded by Acker - carried.
