Appleton Noon Lions Club of Appleton WI. held its regular Board Meeting at the Grand Meridian on November 8, 2010. Meeting was called to order at 11:00 A.M. by Pres. Bob Randa who acted as chairman with the following members in attendance:
a motion was made by Hussn, seconded oy Madisen, to approve the Sec. report as printed - carried.
A motion was made by Huss, seconded by Edinger, to approve the Treas. report as printed - carried. Fund balances are as follows: Admin. Act $2,175, Charity Act. $19,362, Restricted Sight Act. $18,275, Becker Act. $18,275. Total: $42,262.
Lion Pres. Randa reported that our profit from the recent EXPO is $200 less than anticipated. However, there is still one $50 bill outstanding from a vendor. Twelve non-profits will be the beneficiaries. It was noted that LEAVEN and The Emergency Shelter are the non-profit organizations that received their $1,000 checks early, so as to benefit by a Keller Matching Grant. The other 10 organizations will receive their checks on Dec. 20, at our club's Christmas Party.
Lion Pres. Randa also reported that our club distributed 528 dictionaries to local area schools, the cost to our club being $608.75. Our thanks to all who participated, and especially to Lion Pres. Randa for his efforts in making this program a success in our community. Thanks, Bob.
A letter was sent to Mary Lou Hoelzel for her contribution of $100 in behalf of her late husband. The check has been deposited in our Restricted Sight Account to aid those local citizens having vision difficulties. Mrs. Hoelzel is the mother ofDebra Cronmiller, wife of Lion James Cronmiller.
Louise Ebert currently runs off copies of Ac Snort and brings them to our meetings for distribution. She will continue to do so until such time as her copies are gone. A change will then have to take place, as the Snort, as we know it, will no longer be printed by a printing company. However, paper she has on hand could take us through this 2010-11 year, at which time the printed information will no longer be pertinent.
A concern was expressed relative to dues paid by new members and the initiation fee involved. A motion to revert to the previous schedule whereby me new member would pay no initiation fee was defeated for lack of a second. The new fee structure, then, is currently in effect.
A note was received from Lion Rik Langan, indicating his inability to attend our meetings, and therefore resigning from club membership. Lion Mike Thomton, as well, now living in Weyauwega, is being dropped for 2010-2011. The club membership now stands at 56.
The District Governor, Vice DG and Zone Chairmen are being invited to our Christmas Party - Dec. 20th. Invitations will also be sent to local area clubs should members wish to attend. Our club committee is at work in preparation for this event. Lions Robertson and Pawlak being co-chairmen. Other members are Lions Lang, Tilque and Novitske.
The Donation to King clothing drive taking place this holiday season is chaired by Lion Acker, with Lions Cooper, Tassoul and Sund assisting.
The Salvation Army Bell ringing project is currently underway. You can participate by going on line or calling 995-1225 to get scheduled for a location, date and time of your choice. Let them know you are a member of this club if and when you participate, (on line at www.safoxcities.org).
Respectfully submitted,

Appleton Noon Lions Club of Appleton WI. held its regular Board Meeting at the Grand Meridian on October 11, 2010. Meeting was called to order at 11:00 A.M. by Pres. Bob Randa who acted as chairman with the following members in attendance:
A motion was made by Madisen, seconded by Acker, to approve me sec. report as printed - carried.
A motion was made by Piskor, seconded by Schuh, to approve the Treas. report as presented - carried. Fund balances are as follows: Admin. Act. $2,629, Charity Act. $21,576, Restricted Sight Act. $1,961, Becker Act. $18,230. Total: $44,397.
The club membership is now at 58 with Jim Wieser rejoining the club. Welcome back, Jim. To date, there are 3 members who have not paid their dues for 2010-2011. Dues for the 2nd half of the year are based on membership on Nov. 30. Those having not paid by that date will be dropped from membership.
A motion was made by Piskor, seconded by Pawlak, to restructure the initial dues paid by members who join after July in any given year to make it less costly to the club. This does not effect dues paid annually by the membership. Motion carried. (See attached.) July $80, August $77, Sept. $$74, etc;
A request from a local citizen in need of hearing aides has been referred to the Lions Foundation for assistance. The cost of this request is in excess of $3000.
Lion Pres. Randa reported that the profit from the recent Senior EXPO to be $16,187. A motion was made by Madisen, seconded by Schuh, to distribute $12,000 of that figure to local non-profits as recommended bythe EXPO committee. Motion carried. The following will receive $1,000 each: Fox Cities Boys and Girls Club, Outagamie County Emergency Shelter, LEAVEN, St. Joseph's Food Program, Fox River Area Girl Scouts, The Fox Valley Warming Shelter, Bay Lakes Boy Scouts, Harbor House, Salvation Army, Fox Valley Sibbling Support Group, The Red Cross and Thompson Community Center. Funds will be distributed at our Dec. 20 Christmas Party to 10 of these organizations. Two will get theirs immediately as they will get matching funds from J.J. Keller Corp. for doing so by November 1st. We will, again, be urging these groups help publicize our effort and in turn the Senior EXPO. Having a staff member join our club would also be a good idea for both their and our organization.
The Appleton Lioness Club (7 members) have decided to dissolve, and in the process have forward their treasury to the Lions Pride Campaign. Their lack of ability to raise funds spearheaded this move. A personal letter will be sent to each of the members urging them to join our club. Our membership committee will follow up in this regard.
The District Convention will be held in Manitowoc on Nov. 12-13. Let Lion Tom know if you are interested in attending. We can send 6 delegates who would be eligible to vote at the Saturday session.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:50 AM.

OLD BUSINESS
A presentation by Chris Church from the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau regarding assistance to the club should we choose to host
the 2011 Wisconsin Lions State Convention was made and folders were given to the board to highlight the many things the Bureau would do for
the host club.
After much discussion, a motion was made by T. Piskor to participate as hosts of the state 2011 convention to be held in Appleton. Seconded by Pawlak. The motion was unanimously rejected. The feeling presented by the board was that the work load commitment as well as questionable profits were not evident and declining attendance at the convention of late were deciding factors.
A further motion by Simon and seconded by Acker was presented whereby we would express interest in hosting the state golf tournament which event is held as part of the convention. Winagamie Golf Course would be available for this event The motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Correspondence was received from Zone Chairman Eugene Hardell, who attended our last meeting and gave us an A grade
for being a solid club with good meetings. He attended the August 30th meeting and was very impressed.
To date Four (4) members have not paid their 2010-11 dues. Notices have been sent to the members.
A request for hearing assistance is being referred to the charity and screening committee and to the state office, seeking assistance for a $3000.00 expenditure. A motion was made by Garnier, seconded by G. Schmitt for this action. Motion carried.

Total $41,029.27.
OLD BUSINESS
A discussion was held on the brat sales to date. Effort and work is worth the idea to spread the Lionism recognition in the community. The amount
of profit was less at Copps but the prices were lower at Copps than the required price that Festival wanted you to charge. It was felt that Copps was
a user friendly environment and that was expressed by our president, who worked both sites. Another plus was the camaraderie enjoyed by the members of
the club working the project.
A question arose concerning the passage of the budget and it was announced that the budget was unanimously passed at the August 2nd meeting.
Lion Dave Cooper representing the membership committee discussed free and reduced items distributed to new members. He presented a list of proposed pricing for vests, shirts and caps. There would be an elimination of free shirts to new members. The initiation fee would still be paid by the club. A motion was made by PISKOR , and seconded by SIMON . The motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS
President Bob Randa was notified by the State office that they no longer were going to plan and present the state convention to the Lions of
Wisconsin. They have however selected the city for the convention and that city is Appleton. The date of the convention is May 20-21" 2011. After a lot
of discussion including the manpower needed to put on the convention, club benefits of the convention and the knowledge that the Grand Chute club has
already indicated they will not be involved and other issues, it was decided to invite the leadership of all of the clubs in the area to a meeting with
the state leadership and very soon to discuss this topic. Not saying no at this time until we have this meeting. A motion was made by MADISEN to contact
the state to have a meeting by the end of August of all of the clubs in the area to discuss the state convention. Seconded by SCHMITT. Motion passed.
Tom Piskor reported as a committee of one on the ink jet/cell phone recycling. The name of this committee has been changed from the EcoPhone to
the Recycling Fundraiser. Tom reported a total of $391.45 that included ink jets received from Rapid Refill. He also indicated that approximately $66.75
was from Lion contributions. Our president suggested that someone from the club should volunteer to assist Tom in this endeavor. Let torn and the
president know if you are interested.
Lion Joe Ferris brought up some information about The Convoy of Hope but the feeling was that this was too short of a notice for us to get involved.
The next board meeting is slated for September 20th, 2010 at the Grand Meridian at 11:00 A.M.
A motion was made to adjourn by SCHUH and seconded by COOPER. President RANDA adjourned the meeting at 11:55 A.M.

Re: Lions/Lenscrafters
Date: April 16,2010
I went to Lenscrafters to discuss the Lions Club involvement and discovered the following:

Appleton Noon Lions Club of Appleton WI. held its regular Board Meeting at the Grand Meridian on March 15, 2010. Meeting was called to order at 10:45 A.M. by Pres. Mike Weyenberg who acted as chairman with the following members in attendance:
There was no quorum present, no official business was therefore conducted.
The Sec. and Treas. reports were reviewed as presented. Fund balances are as follows: Admin Act. $201, Charity Act.. $12,008, Hetzfeldt Restricted Sight Act. $$1,911, Becker Act. $17,944. Total: #32065.
The budget for 2010-11 was discussed noting that we are falling short of anticipated income in candy and rose sales with our brat frys are as yet unscheduled. Our rose sale this year totaled 350 as compared to in excess of 500 dozen last year.
A check for $300 has been sent to aid in the tuition of a diabetically visually handicapped student at the UWFOX. This was in conjunction with neighboring Lions Clubs and approved at the February meeting.
The Nominating Committee is looking for new Board members, specifically still in need of a 3`d VP, Tail Twister and a Membership Committee member. Past Pres. Novitske is the chair of this committee. Let him know if you are interested.
The Zone Chairman for our district has resigned. At the recent Zone meeting an attempt was made to elect Lion Garnier, but he refused on the grounds of already having too many irons in the fire, but his irons are really in the trees.
The session closed at 11:15 AM.
Please note: Board meetings hereafter will begin at 11:00 AM, rather than 10:30 AM.
