Re: Club Survey
Date: February, 2006
By now, everyone has seen the results of the club survey conducted in December.
Copies were distributed to those in attendance at the Jan. 31 meeting. Those absent received copies in the mail later that week.
A discussion on the survey results was held at that Jan. 31 meeting to assess our efforts as a club. How are we doing? What are our strengths? areas of concern? means by
which we can perhaps improve our organization? Below are our thoughts in the 4 areas we discussed:
-
Location/Meals
- Strengths
- -storage
- -pre-meeting arrangements made for us (tv, vcr, etc;)
- -parking
- -location/accessibility
- -we work well with club staff
- -bar provides good pre-meal social
- Concerns
- -price of meal
- -too much food oftentimes
- -Are we eating left-overs?
- -Do free lunches effect price?
- -Size of smaller meals not available
- -Christmas dinner menu a concern
- Solutions/Resolve/Other Thoughts
- -possible buffet
- -light lunch preferred
- -soup and sandwich (lower cost a result?)
- Programs/Social Events
Strengths
- -high quality programs
- -biographical sketch meetings excellent ( 5th Monday program ?)
- Concerns
- -too many financial planner programs
- -political speakers should be debate forum
- SolutionslResolve/Other Thoughts -casino night
- -need Post Crescent coverage of programs and events -invite EXPO advertisers to be programs
- -also those charities we fund each Christmas season
- Fund Raising
- Strengths
- -2 major fundraisers provide good visibility
- -Sr. EXPO and Rose sale are both good financially
- Concerns
- -elimination of Art in the Park and Octoberfest
- -Is Entertainment Book sales a valid effort?
- -we have a greater demand for our Lions funds
- - namely Wis. Eye Bank and Lion's Pride
- SolutionslResolve/Other Thoughts
- -Do we need more fund raising events?
- -Are we distributing our money properly?
- -Octoberfest and Art in the Park provide good visibility too
- -Do we have sufficient workers for projects?
- Membership
- Strengths
- -we enjoy being Lions (90+% so stated)
- -we are pleased with how thing are going (85+%)
- Concerns
- -we are an aging club
- -need new blood
- -committee assignments a concern to some members
- -cost too high (has been a problem)
- -getting people who work is difficult at noon
- -we lost 4 members this year -added 0
- SolutionslResolve/Other Thoughts
- -Need promotional brochures -Placemats?
- -Give promotional cards to those who get roses
- -Make appeal to more women to become Lions
- -Educate women in Lions vs. Lionesses -Get new retirees as soon as they retire
- -Contact employers to provide membership (good PR)
- -Provide incentives to sponsers
- -Subsidize dues?
- -Family membership (2 for the price of 1 and ]/2)
- -How about joint meetings with other clubs - at their meeting site and date or ours?
